Hemavan - Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve
11 September 2026 - 13 September 2029
September is when the Swedish mountains burst into colour. With plenty of light during the still-long days and temperatures ideal for hiking, we head to Hemavan to set our sights on one of the glaciers in the Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve. With any luck, we may witness a blazing display of northern lights as darkness falls.
Date: 11-13 September 2026
Place: Hemavan - Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve
Price: 1695 kr
We meet at Umeå University Hospital early on Friday morning, where we board the first bus to Hemavan. Upon arrival, we take the gondola directly up onto the mountain toward our camp for the weekend. On Saturday, we set off with lighter packs on a day hike with one of the local glaciers as our destination. On Sunday, we break camp and make our way back down to Hemavan to catch the bus home.
This tour is suited for those who have previously tried tent camping and are ready to take the next step out onto the Swedish mountains. Whether mountain hiking is a newly discovered interest or you have several trips under your belt, we are delighted to have you along and to share our experience. If you don't have your own gear, not to worry — most equipment is available to rent at our outdoor store, Sarek. Before and during the tour, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn from the experienced guides accompanying the group.
