Dreaming of seeing the Northern Lights?
Join us for an outdoor experience and discover how to best find and enjoy the aurora near Umeå. Along the way, you’ll learn about this fascinating phenomenon and gain useful tips for exploring nature safely.

Place: IKSU Sport & Hamptjärnsstugan
Price: Free
The tour begins at IKSU Sport, where our space physicist Eva will introduce you to the fascinating mystery of the Northern Lights, what they are and how they form. We then travel together by bus to Hamstjärnstugan, where we cook a meal over an open fire, learn about Sweden’s Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten) through a fun quiz walk, and set out together in search of the Northern Lights. While we cannot guarantee an aurora sighting, we do promise an enjoyable and memorable afternoon/evening filled with engaging conversations and great company. We conclude the tour with a short walk to the nearest bus stop, where the workshop ends. Please note that return transportation is not included!
