Enjoy the last days of summer and join us on a bike ride along the beautiful Vindel river, designated by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve. The tour offers wonderful cycling through unique nature and cozy communities along the river valley. We enjoy a shared dinner in front of the fire and sleep in tents. Maybe it´s time for a final evening dip in the river before winter arrives?
During this two-day tour, we initially cycle along the Ume river and then continues along the Vindel river up to the village of Vännfors (about 50 km one way). We set up camp next to the river, make a fire and prepare dinner together.
We start the trip together on Saturday morning by meeting up at IKSU Sport where we make the final preparations of the bikes and equipment. After that, we start cycling along the northern shore of the Ume river towards our first stop at Baggböle manor and Arboretum Norr for a leg stretcher and snacktime. Then the bike ride continues along the river valley. We cross the river at the old bridge in Sörfors continuing along the southern shore towards the village of Vännäsby. After passing by Vännäsby we turn right and start cycling along the Vindel river until we reach Vännfors. We will set aside plenty of time for breaks, snacks and lunch during the tour. Saturday’s tour ends in Vännfors, where we pitch the tents on the grass next to the river beach. We make a fire and prepare the dinner together. Here is a good possibility to take a swim and then warm up in front of the fire. On Sunday we cycle back to Umeå. We exepect to arrive at IKSU Sport late afternoon or early evening.
Please note that we cycle together as a group the entire trip. We recommend to use bicycle bags for your belongings. This way the bike will carry the weight. Your back will thank you for this. You provide your own bicycle and bicycle bags.
